There was a photographer shoot at the Atlanta Prison Farm. I couldn’t go and neither could my good friend and old roommate Evelyn. When photographers started posting their pictures from the shoot online..we were jealous. They had gorgeous models and the location looked fantastic. Whatever, we don’t need a shoot out to go…we decided to go ourselves and shoot each other. Only problem was, we had never heard of the Atlanta Prison Farm and didn’t know where it was, and google was no help.

After talking with people we eventually found out where to go and drove down one afternoon, only to get there and find out it was smack dab in the middle of the ghetto…for real. I don’t have a problem with most areas of Atlanta-but this was completely unfamiliar to us. I mean it was a PRISON that was BURNED DOWN with GRAFFITI all over and we were 2 unsuspecting girls on our own…why would I expect it to feel safe? The farm was off a small and quiet back road and there was no place to park except off the street. Perfect for a crime scene. It was as if we were asking to be attacked- Like how girls in scary movies are out at a place by themselves and you want to scream at them, “What are you doing! Get out of there!” and then they trip and fall. But we really wanted to shoot there! So we pulled off the road and eventually got brave enough to get out of the car. Oh and I forgot to mention there are no trespassing signs EVERYWHERE. We look around, staying as close to our car as possible. A few cars drove by, slowed as they passed and watched us. I saw it in their eyes, we were those girls from the movies- We had to get out of there! We ran back to our car and as we got in a police car came flying by with its lights on- that was our last sign. We got the heck out of there!

Embarrassed by ourselves, we decided to go to a familiar area, Castle Berry Hill and shoot. She posted hers almost immediately. Me…a little longer, but here they are!

This was the first shot I took of Evelyn and she was playing around, but I love it!

Some more playing around (the second shot anyway).
