Without fail, every year on Christmas Eve, I’m up in my old bedroom wrapping presents like a mad man. My family patiently waits as I frantically wrap each person’s Christmas Eve gift, only to carry downstairs and watch them be torn open moments later. Because of this, its hard for me to justify really spending time on wrapping them neatly or making fancy bows and ribbons to go with each present.
Along the same lines, my idea of a birthday gift is to throw it in a bag with tissue paper, because as adults, the excitement of unwrapping a present isn’t the same as a child and we really shouldnt care if our presents come in a bag or not. Its the present inside that matters anyway! In all reality, I’m just really bad at wrapping and always have been. I think its a patience thing.
That is until my dear friend Chelsea gave me a present. Her presents are always meticulously wrapped in the cutest packaging with boxes, bows, and ribbons and are just AMAZING. The packaging of the present is always as exciting as the present its self. Completely jealous and well aware of my lack of attention to detail, I decided I to would wrap like Chelsea. Only each year on Christmas Eve, the same ol logic and franticness over shadowed the dreams of becoming an amazing wrapper. Hey dreams can come in the smallest form!
When I started photography, I decided that all of my wedding packaging would recieve the same care and detail as a wedding present. I want my clients to get their disc, albums, press printed books, etc. in the mail and feel as though it is something special for them. I am excited to give clients their photos and I want them to know that thought and care was put into it. Plus I get to make up for years of bad wrapping- bow and all!
Here is the packaging for Drew and Kysha’s wedding last month. I am still looking for a DVD case that I love and the wrapping is pretty basic. But hey, its a start!
Here are a few pages from a press printed book I had made. I love the way it turned out!
