She strolled in beaming. Exuding nothing short of complete joy, excitement, and anticipation. She had just come from breakfast, as myself and Diane (her maid of honor) rolled out of bed. “Goooooood Morning!” she exclaimed. I had never seen her so happy. As she should be. Immediately recognizing what day it was, I threw off the covers and shouted, “Happy Wedding Day!’ She was taken back. We used to live together and she knows this is not how I roll in the morning. Except this was no ordinary morning.

The three of us had a few last moments together and then were off to follow the schedule the last 12 months had been spent planning. Hair, Make-up, food…can’t forget about food, smiles all around, girl talk, wedding dress, garter, shoes, jewelry, bouquets. Ready!  The day went seamless and before we knew it, it was TIME!

Jennifer looked breathtaking. Tears filled our eyes as we looked at her. This moment was special. She had waited so long for this day and it was here. Her last few moments as Miss.

Jennifer and I have grown really close over the last few years and it was really special for me to able to be a pert of her wedding and see it all come to fruition. I’ll end there because I am not really sure how else to say what I feel.

While I was not the photographer, I told Jennifer I would make sure to take some pictures throughout the day. You’ll notice one pretty important person, the groom, is missing. As a bridesmaid, my loyalty was to Jennifer so except for a few moments I snuck away to get the venue shots, I was with her the rest of the day. Lee hates pictures anyway so the less he’s subjected to the better. :)

If you would like to see Jennifer and Lee’s engagement session from last fall, click here.

The wedding was held at Chateau Elan. Here are a few of my favorites:

GORGEOUS darling. Simply gorgeous.
I would just like to note that when we went dress shopping, Jennifer tried on a grand total of 2 dresses. That’s TWO! She knew and we knew the moment she put this on that it was the one.
I can’t put my finger on why, but I really love this one.
The next few moments with the flower girl were precious.

After we finished getting ready, I snuck downstairs for a few minutes to capture some detail shots. Becuase it was so early, none of the candles had been lit nor was the lighting on- but you can still see how magical it was.

I was obesessed with this table. I absolutely loved the branches with the crystals. Once the candles and lights were lit, it was AH.MAZE.ING.

The reception looked like a dream.

This last image I stole from Leann (one of the bridesmaids). Here we all are ready and waiting: Heather, Sydney, Diane, Leann, Jennifer, Me, Anna, Vanessa, and Julie.

Yes, her last name is Lane. Except Lane is her real last name. Mine? Well its not as cool as lane…so I had to middle name my business: Kelly Lane.

Tina designed the Kelly Lane Photography logo and if you are interested in her work, you can check it out here. Recently we had a mini shoot. These images were taken right at sunset and it got dark, fast. Most likely we will do another shoot with more light, but here are a few of my favorites:

THE WATCH

July 20, 2010

Several years ago, I bought a pair of pants. They were awesome pants and I really really really needed them for work… righhhht. They were expensive. Well, expensive to me. I think they were around $90. A few months later, a friend and I were shopping and the exact same pair of pants had been marked down to $19.99!  Needless to say she bought them and I learned a very valuable lesson that now shapes my shopping style.

I rarely pay full price for anything. If I am patient, it will usually go on sale. Plus it gives me time to determine whether it was an impulse purchase or if I really like it. After about 6 months of the above mentioned pants I didn’t even like them anymore and never wore them again.

Three years ago. I really wanted a white watch. Really really wanted it. It was before they were in style so they were hard to find and expensive. After extensive searching I found one that I LOVED. The catch was it’s price tag read $150. I came up with every reason I could think of to go ahead and buy that watch. But in the end, my pants philosophy won and I decided not to buy the trendy item.

6 months ago I was shopping at Nordstrom Rack and a wide array of watches were sitting on a table. I walked over just to have a look and sure enough THE watch was sitting on the table. There were about 5 of them in fact. At 65% off! You would think that I would have bought it and never looked back, but instead I questioned, reasoned and said no once again to the watch. A few days later I decided to go and get it. Only when I went to the table full of watches, this one was missing. They were gone.

Since that time, every time I am in that store I stop by the table to see if there happens to be a white watch sitting there. About 2 weeks ago, as I was making my routine follow up visit, it was as if I was in a dark room and in the distance a small, single light illuminated the pink box in the center of the table. As quickly as I saw the  box, I made my way to the table, trying not to look like a wild woman. As went around to the front of the table, trying to look at the contents inside, there IT sat. THE watch. I stopped and smiled to myself, then snatched it up as quick as my hands could grasp it, walked straight over to the register, and purchased my white watch.

Just remember when shopping…Everything goes on sale sometime.

EVENTS: JESUS CULTURE

July 15, 2010

There’s a youth conference happening in Atlanta right now. 1500+ teenagers going after God. They don’t care how they look, where they worship, or what time it is and where they have to be. They want God…All of Him.

I was there last night for their first main service. When is first walked in I was a little taken back. I didn’t expect it to be so crowded. Kids were EVERYWHERE. That’s the thing about youth and something I forgot somewhere along the way. They don’t like to just sit in their seat. They don’t mind not being in the single row alignment and fitting neatly into their invisible area around their chair. They take off their shoes. They go to the alter. They stand in the aisles. They even sit on the floor. Gasp!

I love going to youth events because it is a rude awakening to: 1. How old I am and 2. How without even realizing it I’ve become set in my ways. I thought this was only for old people, but yes this can happen even at 28.

Here are a few pictures during worship. I had a lot of fun shooting and except for a little sharpening, these images are straight out of the camera. I love how the stage lights effect each image.

For some reason I really liked this one.

Hello long lost blog. It’s been a while. Since I last left you, I went to the beach and had a wonderful couple of weeks off. Now I am back and armed with posts galore!

Back in May, I did a photo shoot for Smart Hair Salon. Dani, my hairstylist contacted me, needing pictures for their webpage. Dani has been my hair stylist for the last 10 years and I LOVE her! Findig a good hair stylist is like finding gold- and I have followed her everywhere as she has opened salons. If she ever retires- I will show up on her doorstep expecting hair color and highlights. She’s like my bear Snuggles I can’t sleep without. What?!?!! I don’t do that!

Here are a few pictures from the shoot:

This is Dani…and she’s gorgeous. Something to note about getting your hair washed here. It’s AMAZING! First, the sinks have headrests in them so your neck doesn’t get tired. Second, they give you a scalp massage and it makes all my troubles go away.  It’s that powerful.

Dani’s husband, Ty hard at work.
Here are a couple of the final results:
