They went to Brookwood and Parkview Highschool, 2 of the biggest rivals in our county. The Brookwood/Parkview football game was the most talked about game of the year. I went to Meadowcreek Highschool, which was… to put it nicely, not competitive as far as football goes. In fact we didn’t win a single football game for 2 years straight. We were reconciled to live vicariously through other schools rivalries and victories.

Yet it was Donatos pizza that brought these 2 together. They met while working there and have been together the last 10 years since then. When I met Matt and Danielle, we reminisced about our old stopping grounds and of course good Ol Donatos pizza. I LOVED that place!

Matt and Danielle, I had an amazing time getting to know you last weekend. If the engagement session was any indication of how fun your wedding will be, I am in for a real treat!  I hope you love the pictures below! xoxo, Kelly

Danielle emailed me and said they had an idea, and that it might be cheesy. I didn’t know what it was until the session, but they printed their childhood pictures to use. Totally adorable!

I die over this photo. Danielle, you are beautiful!
A little dancing time…

And a little Mark II gang sign time…

They live in 2 different states. She is completing her residency. He is taking a leap of faith and going back to school.  After 7 years together, they will soon be living in the same state again, only in a whole new state that neither of them have lived!  A new job, new school, new city, and newly married?! Oh my!

As we walked around Piedmont Park discussing life and all the crazy things that happen, I noticed something. This couple is truly in love.  They love to laugh and they are quite simply magnetic. I had an amazing time getting to know Eric and Miriam and I cannot wait for their fabulous wedding put together by EllyB Events!

Here are a few from the day:

Miriam, girl you are working it! You look radiant! Eric, you are looking quite dashing yourself! :)

The night before the engagement session, I found myself frantically Googling “fields in Atlanta” and emailing Becky excessively. Not living in Atlanta, but in Ball Ground, Georgia, she was not that familiar with the city and where to find a field. And me? Well I had no idea where to find a field in Atlanta. Did they even exist? This being her only request for the location, I was not going to let her down. Desperate to play the fairy god mother and make all her dreams come true (I kid) I contacted almost every one I knew to get an answer. And the answer was…NO ONE KNEW.

Eventually, we compromised and found this amazing location, Sope Creek and Paper Mill Ruins. Content, we confirmed the location and planned to meet there Saturday morning. But desperate to be her fairy god mother for the day, while in route, sitting at a light, I looked across the road and THERE IT WAS….A field!  After the session, we drove to the field and captured a few amazing  images. And my day was complete.

Trey and Becky, I had an amazing time exploring the ruins with you. I cannot wait to be a part of your special day! I hope you love the images below because Becky…you look pretty amazing! xoxo!

WORK.IT.OUT. Becky, work.it.out  ;)
Oh.My.Gosh.The.Light!
My favorite of the day.

I thought I was going to throw this image out as they are in direct sun, but there is something about it I absolutely love!

We tried to plan their session around the weather. 65 and sunny in January? We’ll take it. Only the morning before, the weather changed. Cold, raining and….TORNADO WATCHES. 65 and sunny the next day? Sure! We will work around that. Only the weather was not as predicted. It was probably the coldest day of the season yet and RAINING.

Lori and Dedric, you are seriously awesome. I had an amazing time with you and it was even better because I didn’t get sick :) Thanks for letting me be bossy and I can’t wait for your wedding in Puerto Rico!

MIKE COLON WORKSHOP

January 18, 2012

Back in November, I had the opportunity to help out and be a part of the Mike Colon Workshop. It was an amazing experience and I had a great time meeting new people. There were 2 shooting days, the first was an engagement session.

Here are a few of my favorites:

In 2 weeks I turn 30. Oh wait maybe you missed it…that’s THIRTY. As in 3-0!  With the new year rolling around and a significant increase in age, I may or may not have had some emotional meltdowns. If I hunker down and try to set goals for the year, my mind starts running before I can even catch up. OMG I am about to be 30. What did I want to do with my life before I turned 30? Am I where I want to be? I was supposed to be a millionaire by now. Oh wow, now my body is going to fall apart. I should probably go to the doctor more to make sure. And then before I know what hit me, the tears start falling.

Okay this has only happened once. And I feel a lot better now. Especially because in order to defeat 30, I planned a trip to the Caribbean so I can at least turn 30 somewhere new and amazing. This is when I plan to compose my thoughts, goals and dreams for the year. As they stand now, I imagine them to be grand, a little out there, and bigger than anything I could ever accomplish myself. This year will be a year of taking risks. After all, I will be 30…why not?!

Some of my goals have begun to take shape already. The first being a bright yellow email I received Monday morning. Kelly Lane Photography is a Bride’s choice award winner for 2012! I initially thought this must have been sent to the wrong person, but once my name appeared in the image, I conceded…and graciouslly prepared a thank you speech. Kidding.

The next exciting announcement is that I now have a promo video! This has been over a year in the making…and I have held onto it a little bit, just because I am shy about it. It took several years for me to allow a picture of myself to be taken. This takes it to a whole new level.

I am indebted to Craig Obrist  for creating this for me and dedicating hours of time to it in an already super tight schedule. Also thank you Jennifer and Ryan Robinson, Jennifer, and Aaron for modeling. Ya’ll make me look good!

ATLANTA ENGAGEMENT: JOHN + AMY

September 27, 2011

As we sat in a Buckhead coffee shop, it felt as though we had been old friends. Amy shared stories of her and John. How they had been together for 11 years. How at work one night he was shot in the chest and shouldn’t be alive. How a cell phone in his pocket stopped the bullet from reaching his heart. And how proposed shortly after.

As we sat discussing life, we realized how quickly time had passed and 3 hours later we went our separate ways.

Last weekend, we met again for her and John’s engagement session. I had a great time hanging out  and 3 hours later time had once again escaped us. We wrapped the shoot, hopped in the car and rushed to the Falcon’s game. You know, the first home game agaisnt the Eagles and Vick? That game.

Amy and John, I cannot wait for your wedding at Atlanta Botanical Garden next spring. I have had a blast in the short time that I have spent with you and the way time flies, your wedding will be here before we know it!

Here are some pictures from the day:

Amy you look AH-MAZE-ING!  This is my favorite from the day.

After a wardrobe change we headed over to Piedmont Park.

Here is a little peek of last weekend’s amazing couple:

Matt and Sara,

You are amazing. Really. I am so so excited to shoot your wedding in September. I feel like I have known you forever and in the short time that I have known you, I feel like we are friends. I had a great time with you last week and I hope you love the pictures. Sara, go on with your HOT self. XOXO

Absolutely GORGEOUS.

My favorite of the day.

It’s official, I live inside the Perimeter or ITP as the cool Atlantans like to call it. Technically I am just on the right side of being ITP, but really I just tell people I’m ITP. It makes me seem way cooler. My life has been consumed with several things recently, the 2 primary being moving and organizing The Shoot.

I have partnered with the non-profit organization Project Go and local Atlanta photographers to offer discounted photo sessions for $50! All proceeds from The Shoot will benefit a family in need. This is such a great cause and I am so happy to see it all come together.

If you would like more information or to book a session check out theshootevent.com.

See you May 22nd!
