The Brookwood/Parkview football game was the most talked about game of the year. I went to Meadowcreek Highschool, which was… to put it nicely, not competitive as far as football goes. In fact we didn’t win a single football game for 2 years straight. We were reconciled to live vicariously through other schools rivalries and victories.

Yet it was Donatos pizza that brought these 2 together. They met while working there and have been together the last 10 years since then. When I met Matt and Danielle, we reminisced about our old stopping grounds and of course good Ol Donatos pizza. I LOVED that place!

Matt and Danielle, I had an amazing time getting to know you last weekend. If the engagement session was any indication of how fun your wedding will be, I am in for a real treat! I hope you love the pictures below! xoxo, Kelly

Danielle emailed me and said they had an idea, and that it might be cheesy. I didn’t know what it was until the session, but they printed their childhood pictures to use. Totally adorable!

As he stood there, on his wedding day, in a full on tux- He thanked everyone else. Everyone chuckled as if no thank you was needed. They wanted to be there, to witness the ceremony of two people who had touched their lives. You only need to spend a few minutes with Adam and Alanna to see their love. He is smitten with her. And with just one look he can make her smile.

Her brother, sister, and I run in the same circle of friends. When we do get to hang out and catch up, it is always a night full of laughter. A wedding would be no different, except this time there would be even more people to share the joy.

Adam and Alanna, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day. I am truly honored. I owe a big thank you to Nicole and George.

She is completing her residency. He is taking a leap of faith and going back to school. As we walked around Piedmont Park discussing life and all the crazy things that happen, I noticed something. This couple is truly in love. They love to laugh and they are quite simply magnetic. I had an amazing time getting to know Eric and Miriam and I cannot wait for their fabulous wedding put together by EllyB Events!

And since skinny jeans don’t seem to be going away anytime soon, I have decided to embrace the new trend of…oh dear Lord…making them…colored.

I am not a big wearer of bright colors, but I figured I would start off with this tamed yellow…you know…to blend in with all the pollen. I actually was really hesitant wearing these. I felt like I stood out like a brightly lit neon sign in a room. Electrical buzzing and all. But after some reassurance that I was not in fact a neon sign, I began to feel more comfortable.

If you are going to try this look, my advice would be to make sure you pair them with muted colors and keep it simple. This way it doesn’t become too busy. Also, buy them cheap so you don’t feel bad if you decide you don’t like them!

Not living in Atlanta, but in Ball Ground, Georgia, she was not that familiar with the city and where to find a field. And me? Well I had no idea where to find a field in Atlanta. Did they even exist? This being her only request for the location, I was not going to let her down. Desperate to play the fairy god mother and make all her dreams come true (I kid) I contacted almost every one I knew to get an answer. And the answer was…NO ONE KNEW.

Eventually, we compromised and found this amazing location, Sope Creek and Paper Mill Ruins. Content, we confirmed the location and planned to meet there Saturday morning. But desperate to be her fairy god mother for the day, while in route, sitting at a light, I looked across the road and THERE IT WAS….A field! After the session, we drove to the field and captured a few amazing images. And my day was complete.

Trey and Becky, I had an amazing time exploring the ruins with you. I cannot wait to be a part of your special day! I hope you love the images below because Becky…you look pretty amazing! xoxo!

And then watching their family grow. I shot Tim and Aileen’s Miami wedding last year and a few months later she contacted me to let me know she was pregnant! An anniversary gift to her husband she told me.

Aileen has become a dear friend and I am so glad has become a part of my life.

Last weekend we got together at their home for a maternity session. She is due now. As in she could have the baby ANY DAY! Little Talia was a trooper and waited until I got back in town, allowing us to capture the below images, which I have to say, are pretty fabulous!

White can be difficult to photograph because it ends up brighter than the rest of the image(notice below) or can make an image look very bland. When shooting for this Fashion Fix, I realized…uh…. I am wearing WHITE (actually cream thank.you.very.much.) AND featuring it on my blog?! What the what?!

So here is why white can work: First, white is only a small part of the outfit (not a big baggy shirt) and secondly, it is textured, so this helps with the visual interest. Another note- usually a background full of color will help offset any blandness.

And for the Will Godfrey’s of the world that want to know who is taking these pics…that would be my beau Michael. He is learning how to shoot.

The perfect time for a post about coats. I kid. But nonetheless, here one is. Hey, winter isn’t officially done yet, so you still may need to break one out.

This look is by far the most frequent type of outfit I have worn this winter. Riding boots because of style and comfort. Leggings are way more comfortable than jeans. Am I right ladies or AM I RIGHT?!

And a scarf and sweater make it extra cozy.

People shy away from photo shoots in the winter and I say don’t! I love the way a good coat photographs and all the layers that make getting different looks easy! Coats help make your outfit look more structured, stylish, and usually can hide things we don’t want shown anyway.

I added this picture from 2010 to show another idea for wearing coats. I usually tell clients to stay away from white, but as a layer, especially with a colorful background, I think it works. The coat is from Express. Look at that hair!
